Why I built Haven: To Create a Village for Families

When I set out to build Haven, it was because I had been struggling with what I found millions of other mothers were struggling with: the ability to take care of my family while also growing in my career and caring for myself. I knew these things depended on each other, and it led me to a deep dive into the childcare industry.
I kept returning to this feeling that, in the absence of the traditional “Village,” an expanded childcare model could set families up for real future health and wellbeing. By combining high-quality, fully licensed childcare with an inspiring and inviting space for parents to work, workout, and tend to their wellness needs, it felt like we could truly show up for them in a way that modern life had not yet.
Since 2019, Haven clubs have become a space where parents feel proud and supported; where they feel they are being rooted for, regardless of what their path or goals look like. A great example of the Haven community’s direct impact is hearing from parents stationed in Newport, RI, at the Naval War College with their young families, who know no one nearby. They are only in town for a year or two, but they feel lifted up and embraced by a group of parents, early childhood educators, and our whole team from the moment they join the club. From their stories (and all the others), it is clear that when you take care of the whole family, the child thrives in a way that would otherwise be elusive. The community that Haven is able to nurture is the direct result of bringing these critical elements of daily life under one intentionally designed roof.
The three years I was able to be a parent at Haven followed three years of parenting two children under 3 without Haven’s support. Taking my role at the company and placing it aside, the three years I had the girls at the club were truly the best three years of my life to that point. And, it is the gift of a lifetime to be able to work tirelessly every day to provide the same experience of parenthood to as many families as I possibly can every day.
